Tags: technology vistaprint According to Wikipedia, “innovation” may refer to both radical and incremental changes in thinking, in processes or in services. Too often nowadays the term is thrown around without much thought to the real meaning. Radical and incremental changes are paramount to innovation, but which companies are forcing them? Innovation in manufacturing processes is something companies have been improving for hundreds of years. From Ford with the first assembly line, to Dell with the construction and availability of the laptop computer, and recently Netflix with the way DVD’s are automatically processed and shipped directly to your home via your online list.
But how would you define modern day innovation in the typically boring industry of printing? Would a company that seamlessly produced more than 8,000,000,000 business cards worldwide in just eight years be considered innovative? What if it also produced more than 3,000,000 self-inking stamps or nearly 900,000,000 million More... |

Dry ice blast cleaning is being used by manufacturers and contract cleaners for a variety of environmentally responsible cleaning applications; from cleaning rubber tire molds and semiconductor equipment to mold remediation from flood-damaged buildings. The blast cleaning process involves accelerating small dry ice pellets at supersonic speeds through advanced hoses and nozzles. The dry ice pellets create a mini-explosion on the surface being cleaned separating the contaminant from the surface. Upon impact with the surface, the dry ice pellets sublimate (return to their original gaseous state), and the only thing left to clean is contaminant. There is no secondary waste, no chemicals to dispose of and no need to use water. Where did dry ice blast cleaning come from, how does it work and how is it benefiting companies and consumers today? |

Tags: No matter what city one is in nor what country, there is one constant that no one can control - space. We are running out of it and quickly. It impacts many aspects of urban living but none so blatantly as the issue of parking. As cities continue to grow, unfortunately the amount of parking space available to drivers declines in relation. The irony is, it doesn't have to be that way. THe amount of residential/condos, apartment buildings and small businesses that have extra space in their garages and/or people willing to rent their spots while they commute out of the city every day from 8am to 6pm is plenty. The problem to date is no one has had a central source to collect all this information into an easy to use format...until now. www.parkingspots.com has been designed to do exactly that: act as a central repository for people who need parking to connect with those who have it. THe best part? Because many of the spots on www.parkingspots.com are non-traditional (ie. commerci More... |

No newsletter or SEO, just good old fashioned online networking. |

Tags: In the United States, international export of high tech goods accounted for $214 billion in revenue in 2007, while imports totaled $333 billion, according to the AeA (formerly known as the American Electronics Association). This tradeflow, coupled with the steady increase in cross border development, design and manufacturing of goods, is a strong indicator of the demand for software that assists companies to translate product documents into multiple languages. In fact, according to Across Systems, multiational companies typically translate written materials into somewhere between 10 and 30 languages per document. But how do companies maintain productivity of knowledge workers? And in America, do companies value the language assets they have for how important those are to global marketing and localization? I thought this might be an interesting concept for a best practices story because knowledge worker productivity is an important component of innovation and translation of documents an More... |
