CollegeNET.com is a social networking site where students of any age — whether they're working professionals looking to change careers or first-time students —  can win a scholarship for college. Students sign up to become members of CollegeNET.com and then post forum topics about ideas or topics that interest them. Topics for posts range from serious issues (i.e. religion) to funny ideas (i.e. senior pranks).
Â
Every month, members on the site vote on which postings are the best, and the top five recipients of the most votes receive scholarships. 5,4,3,2 and 1 thousand-dollar scholarships are awarded each month. CollegeNET is a way to provide students with an alternative to the traditional long-form college essay, and give them a chance to diplomatically handle the scholarship award process themselves. Many members have made friends in the process, as well.
